Counting chemicals

As a society we have gotten away from caring about the ingredients we are bringing into our home. This doesn't stop at just food. Food, cleaning products, skin care, bath products, beauty...we are constantly bombarded by toxins on a daily basis.

We've become more concerned with counting calories and less concerned with what is replacing those calories like unpronounceable chemicals & sugar substitutes.

Weight loss really is a matter of calories in vs. calories out. But not all calories are created equal. Eating processed foods that are labeled as low calorie, low-carb are packed with preservatives, chemicals, and sugar or artificial sweeteners.

These can make you crave more sugar and suppress your satiety signals (leading to overeating), lead to insulin resistance which can slow down your metabolism and make it difficult to maintain your weight, Impact your gut health, leading to the malabsorption of important nutrients, & cause bloating and GI unrest.

Cleaning products where we don't even question the ingredient labels - or even where the ingredients aren't listed at all! Ones that have "hazardous to humans and animals" listed right on the bottle. Ingredients that have been linked to asthma, cancer, reproductive disorders, hormone disruption and neurotoxicity. Just last week I was talking to a co worker who said she is unable to use the purell sanitizer outside patients rooms because her hands turn beet red and swell. This is not normal, y'all.

Hear me well: It is no coincidence that cancer, autoimmune diseases, allergies, and infertility is on the rise in alarming numbers. We are doing this to ourselves. And until you wake up and start to care, things won't change.

Take one step at a time to reverse the culture we live in. Replace your toxic cleaners with simple things like vinegar and essential oils. Stop buying processed foods and start buying more whole foods that don't need labels.

You can do it. We can change the narrative for our children and grandchildren. Just please. Start to care.
